The loss of skin elasticity is probably one of the most frustrating parts of the aging process. From laugh lines to fine lines and wrinkles, our skin finds more ways to showcase our advancing years to the rest of the world. Muscles make repetitive movements, and over time, causing cracks in the skin, known as “wrinkles”. Luckily, Botulinum toxin (the source of Botox and Dysport), science offers us a way to improve those wrinkles and help prevent and restore our skin to it's smooth, youthful state.

Dr. Kallman has used Botox since 1997, and has never seen an adverse reaction in over the 23 years and tens of thousands of injections. Botox Miami and Dysport Miami are very safe and convenient procedures. The procedure takes 10 to 15 minutes. This way, you can get them done during your lunch break and go back to work. It's that simple.

What are Botox and Dysport?

They are a class of medications called neuromodulators. Botox and Dysport are both derived from botulinum toxin. Botox is the registered trademark name of Allergen’s botulinum toxin, while Dysport is the registered trademark name of Medicis. These proteins are produced by the Clostidium Botulinum bacteria.

The injections contain potent proteins called neuromodulators, that block muscle contractions by interfering communication between the muscles and the nerves. This is a temporary effect, and will return to normal function in 3-4 months. This makes them useful in treating and preventing facial wrinkles, neurological disorders, and other health conditions including headaches and jaw grinding.

Botox in Miami and Dysport in Miami are used to treat forehead lines, frown lines, called the “11’s”, and crows feet. It can prevent these lines, if the repetitive movements are weakened or prevented.  If your muscles aren’t working to form wrinkles, then you can’t get them!!

How Do They Work?

As you already know, both Botox and Dysport are derived from the botulinum toxin, a muscle relaxant. When injected into your muscles, they block the nerve impulses that cause muscle contraction. By paralyzing these underlying muscles, the injections help your skin, by allowing your skin time to repair the wrinkles, causing your face to stay relaxed and relatively wrinkle-free.  It's important to know that the procedure doesn't completely erase your wrinkles. It only helps to reduce them and make them less noticeable. The results typically last for 3-4 months, after which you should consider getting further injections. At times, the wrinkles, are so deep, that it is useful to erase them with fillers, in combination, with the neuromodulators.

Who Can Get Botox And Dysport Injections?

Both injections are suitable for adult men and women with moderate to severe facial lines and wrinkles.

However, factors such as pregnancy, skin allergies, medication, history of botulinum toxin sensitivity, and other skin disorders may affect your eligibility.

To be safe, you should be honest with us about your health issues and any medications or supplements you may be taking before getting Botox or Dysport injections. Dr. Kallman believes that your natural appearance should be preserved when treating patients’ facial wrinkles. There is a fine line between applying Botox to help ameliorate your wrinkles and “freezing” someone’s expression.
